    Key Responsibilities

    • Applying Legal Standards: Utilize case laws and statutory limits to calculate the quantum of compensation (LOE quantum) and make decisions regarding approval or rejection of claims.
    • Actuarial Analysis: Assess actuarial reports and, where necessary, work with the internal actuarial team to complete further calculations.

    2. Quality Assurance

    Ensuring that all adjudications are accurate and comply with RAF policies and legal standards is a key part of this role. You will be responsible for:

    • Researching and Reviewing Policies: Stay up to date with laws and policies relevant to your cases.
    • Participating in Consultations: Engage in discussions regarding the implementation and improvement of claims processes.
    • Maintaining Standards: Implement processes to ensure all loss of support adjudications adhere to the highest standards.

    3. Administrative Support

    You will also provide administrative assistance, which will include:

    • Handling Correspondence: Respond to inquiries, assist in creating reports, and draft communication such as letters and memos.
    • Documentation: Prepare reports, briefing papers, and presentations related to the adjudication process.

    4. Reporting

    Tracking your progress and reporting on your performance will be essential. This includes:

    • Setting Objectives: Keep track of performance targets and report on any emerging risks or issues.
    • Providing Ad Hoc Reports: Share insights on process improvements and any changes required.

    5. Stakeholder Management

    Effective communication and relationship management are crucial in this role. You will need to:

    • Manage Relationships: Foster good relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Resolve Queries: Follow up on and resolve queries promptly, ensuring all parties are kept informed throughout the adjudication process.

    Qualifications and Experience

    The RAF is looking for candidates with the following qualifications and experience to fill these Consultant vacancies:

    1. Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree/Advanced Diploma: A relevant qualification in a related discipline is essential.
    • Relevant Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a claims adjudication environment or similar roles.

    2. Technical and Behavioural Competencies

    To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate both technical and behavioural skills, including:

    • Planning, Organisation, and Coordination: Strong organisational skills to manage and process claims efficiently.
    • Personal Mastery: A high level of professionalism and self-management.
    • Judgement and Decision-Making: Ability to make informed decisions based on available information.
    • Client Service Orientation: A customer-centric approach to service delivery.
    • Complex Problem Solving: Skills in addressing complex issues in a systematic manner.
    • Knowledge of Motor Vehicle Accident Legislation: A solid understanding of the laws surrounding motor vehicle accidents and claims.
    • Interpersonal Relations: Strong communication skills for managing relationships with stakeholders.
    • Financial Management Skills: Good financial management and analytical skills.

    Working Conditions and Salary

    • Location: The role is based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa.
    • Employment Type: This is a fixed-term contract position for 12 months.
    • Salary: The job posting salary is R434,656.00 annually.
    • Closing Date: The closing date for applications is 8th April 2025.
