    Applications for internships year 2025–2027 are being accepted from unemployed graduates by the South African Department of Employment and Labour. Young South Africans have a fantastic opportunity to earn a monthly stipend while gaining invaluable work experience in their subject of study. The purpose of the internship is to introduce recent graduates to actual work settings in both the public and commercial sectors. This program is a great first step towards a successful career if you are between the ages of 18 and 35, unemployed, and have never taken part in an internship.


    About the Internship Opportunities

    • Duration: 24 months from the date of appointment
    • Monthly Stipend: R7,450.62 per month

    Who Can Apply?

    • South African unemployed graduates with a relevant tertiary qualification.
    • Must be between 18 and 35 years old.
    • Should not have previously participated in an internship programme.

    Application Deadline

    • 21 February 2025 at 16:00 (walk-in applications).
    • 21 February 2025 at 00:00 midnight (online applications).

    Internship Opportunities and Requirements

    The Department of Employment and Labour has internship vacancies across multiple fields, each requiring specific qualifications. Below is a list of available internship posts:

    1. Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)

    • Posts Available: 3,812
    • Qualification Required:
      • National Diploma (NQFL6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQFL7) in:
        • Environmental Health
        • Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Chemical, Construction Engineering
        • Chemistry
        • Occupational Health/Hygiene
        • Explosives Management/Engineering
    • Duties:
      • Assist in conducting inspections for compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
      • Provide administrative support to inspectors.
      • Investigate incidents and complaints.
      • Support inspectors in enforcement actions.

    2. Basic Conditions of Employment (BCEA)

    • Posts Available: 3,727
    • Qualification Required:
      • National Diploma (NQLF6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQFL7) in:
        • Labour Relations
        • BCom Law
        • LLB
        • Labour Law
    • Duties:
      • Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with the Basic Conditions of Employment Act.
      • Investigate complaints of labour law violations.
      • Provide administrative support.

    3. Employment Equity (EEA)

    • Posts Available: 513
    • Qualification Required:
      • National Diploma (NQFL6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQFL7) in:
        • BCom Law
        • LLB
        • Labour Law
    • Duties:
      • Assist in monitoring compliance with the Employment Equity Act.
      • Conduct inspections.
      • Investigate complaints of discrimination in workplaces.
      • Provide administrative support.

    4. Employer Audit Service (EAS)

    • Posts Available: 1,948
    • Qualification Required:
      • National Diploma (NQFL6) or Bachelor’s Degree (NQFL7) in:
        • BCom Law
        • LLB
        • Labour Law
        • BCom Accounting
        • Internal Audit
        • Auditing
        • Financial Accounting
        • Cost and Management Accounting
        • Financial Information System
    • Duties:
      • Conduct inspections to check compliance with UIA, COIDA, and UICA laws.
      • Investigate non-compliance complaints.

    3. Do not submit copies of qualifications initially.
    4. Submit an updated CV and a fully completed, initialed, and signed Z83 form.
