    The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure (DPWI) plays a vital role in improving the country’s infrastructure, offering a variety of job opportunities that cater to a range of professionals in South Africa.     1. Chief Construction Project Manager (Grade A) – Pretoria Regional Office (X3 Posts)

    • Salary: R1 200 426 per annum (all-inclusive salary package)
    • Requirements:
      • National higher diploma in a Built Environment field.
      • Minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience as a Professional Construction Project Manager.
      • Registration with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Professions (SACPCMP).
      • A valid driver’s license.
    • Duties:
      • Manage construction projects, including large-scale capital and maintenance projects.
      • Monitor and mentor project managers.
      • Ensure effective project execution and coordination of built environment professionals.
      • Manage contractors and ensure project compliance with department guidelines.

    2. Chief Construction Project Manager (Grade A) – Cape Town Regional Office

    • Reference: REF NO: 2024/84
    • Salary: R1 200 426 per annum (all-inclusive salary package)
    • Requirements:
      • Similar requirements as the Pretoria position, with a focus on the Built Environment.
      • Minimum of 6 years post-qualification experience.
      • Compulsory registration with SACPCMP.
      • Valid driver’s license.
    • Duties:
      • Oversee project managers and mentor staff in the department.
      • Coordinate the bidding process for contractors.
      • Ensure adherence to project plans and quality standards.
      • Manage the procurement of services in line with supply chain management processes.

    3. Chief Engineer: Mechanical (Grade A) – Gqeberha Regional Office

    • Requirements:
      • Engineering degree (B Eng/ BSC (Eng)).
      • Six years of post-qualification experience.
      • Registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) as a Professional Engineer.
      • Familiarity with mechanical engineering best practices, PFMA, OHSA, and supply chain management.
    • Duties:
      • Lead technical aspects of mechanical engineering projects.
      • Monitor the performance of consultants and contractors.
      • Provide mentorship and develop junior staff.
      • Oversee mechanical installations and ensure compliance with health and safety standards.

    4. Scientific Technician: Water Resource Science (Grade A) – Cape Town Regional Office

    • Salary: R371 253 per annum
    • Requirements:
      • National Diploma in Water Care or Analytical Chemistry.
      • Valid driver’s license.
      • Registration with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) as a Certificated Natural Scientist.
      • Three years of experience in sewage and water purification practices.
    • Duties:
      • Inspect and sample sewage and water purification plants.
      • Provide technical solutions and analysis for water management projects.
      • Conduct operator training and manage plant operations.
      • Ensure compliance with water management regulations.

    5. Artisan Painter: Workshop (Grade A) – Cape Town Regional Office (X2 Posts)

      • Trade Test Certificate in Painting.
      • Valid driver’s license.
      • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act and regulations.
    • Duties:
      • Perform painting work on government buildings.
      • Monitor progress and compile material quantities.
      • Report to the Artisan Superintendent.
      • Willingness to work in various environments such as Robben Island, Marion, Gough, and Antarctica.
