    Dietician Job Overview

    • Position Title: Dietician: Grade 1-3
    • Reference Number: BDH/D/02/24
    • Location: Botshabelo Hospital
    • Closing Date: 22 November 2024
    • Salary Range: R 376,524.00 – R 623,229.00 per annum
    • Employment Type: Permanent
    • Advert Type: External

    Minimum Requirements

    To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    1. Educational Qualification:
      • Matric or equivalent.
      • Bachelor’s degree in Dietetics.
    2. Professional Registration:
      • Current registration as a Dietician with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) for 2023/2024.
    3. Experience:
      • Grade 1: No prior experience required post-registration with HPCSA.
      • Grade 2: At least 10 years of experience post-registration with HPCSA.
      • Grade 3: At least 20 years of experience post-registration with HPCSA.
    4. Documentation:
      • Certificate of service from current and/or previous employers endorsed by Human Resources.
    5. Other Requirements:
      • Valid driver’s license.

    Key Skills and Knowledge

    Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

    • Comprehensive understanding of dietetic principles, including nutritional assessment and analysis.
    • Knowledge of health, public service legislation, regulations, and policies.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage effectively with patients, supervisors, and colleagues.
    • Basic computer literacy for documentation and planning.
    • Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
    • Capacity to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team at various levels.

    Job Responsibilities

    The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

    1. Providing nutritional counseling services to patients.
    2. Prescribing and authorizing specialized diet products.
    3. Implementing guidelines that promote healthy nutritional practices.
    4. Developing and distributing information pamphlets on nutrition.
    5. Planning and executing suitable nutrition programs for individuals or groups.
