Driver/Messenger Job Purpose
The main purpose of this role is to provide effective and efficient driving and messaging services within the Cluster and other Departments of the eThekwini Municipality.
Key Responsibility Areas
- Collection and Delivery:
- Undertake the collection, delivery, and loading of equipment and correspondence.
- Provide courier services to staff and clients to and from various destinations and institutions.
- Vehicle Maintenance:
- Complete trip/mileage forms.
- Check oil, water, and perform general maintenance of vehicles.
- Ensure the completion of safety checklists and operate two-way radios.
- Vehicle Safety:
- Ensure the safe keeping of the vehicle used for messaging services.
- Undertake duties such as washing vehicles and sorting various documents and mail.
- Relief Duties:
- Provide relief for other drivers in the Unit when necessary.
