Minimum Requirements
- Grade 12 (Matric)
- BSc / B Eng in Mechanical Engineering at NQF Level 8 with 480 credits
- Completion of a two (2) years’ training programme for graduates OR
- Two (2) years’ engineering experience in power generation
- Registered with ECSA as a Candidate Engineer

Key Responsibilities
- Performance Monitoring: Regularly assess the performance of mechanical systems and components within the plant to ensure they operate at peak efficiency.
- Data Analysis: Utilize advanced analytical tools and techniques to interpret performance data, identify trends, and implement improvements.
- Continuous Improvement: Develop and implement strategies for continuous performance enhancement, focusing on energy efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Preventive Maintenance: Plan and execute preventive maintenance schedules to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of equipment.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough investigations to determine the root causes of mechanical failures or performance issues, using methodologies such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and RCA (Root Cause Analysis).
- Problem-Solving: Develop and implement effective solutions to address mechanical problems, ensuring minimal disruption to plant operations.
- Rapid Response: Lead and coordinate swift response efforts to mechanical issues, working closely with maintenance teams to restore normal operations quickly.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of issues identified, actions taken, and outcomes achieved to build a comprehensive knowledge base for future reference
- Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of plant modification projects, ensuring they meet technical specifications, timelines, and budgets.
- Technical Evaluations: Evaluate the technical feasibility and impact of proposed modifications, including equipment upgrades, process changes, and new installations.
- Coordination: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, operations staff, and external contractors, to ensure seamless project execution.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all modifications comply with relevant engineering standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
