    The Department of Public Enterprises (DPE) is seeking enthusiastic and committed individuals to join their team as Food Services Aids. This role is crucial in maintaining the department’s high standards in hospitality and meeting support.     Food Services Aid Job Overview

    • Position: Food Services Aid
    • Department: Department of Public Enterprises
    • Location: Pretoria
    • Salary: R131 265 per annum (Level 2)
    • Closing Date: 05 July 2024

    Food Services Aid Job Requirements

    • Qualification: NQF level 1 to 4 qualification.
    • Experience: Exposure in refreshment preparation, etiquette, hygiene, and serving.

    Key Duties

    • Refreshment Services: Serve refreshments to official visitors and cater for meetings held at DPE professionally.
    • Stock Management: Secure refreshment stock for meetings and alert the supervisor to replenish items.
    • Boardroom Management: Tidy boardroom cutlery, alert supervisor for procurement of new items, and ensure regular serving of water.
    • Bookings System: Manage the boardroom bookings system and assist with logistical arrangements for meetings.
    • Document Services: Assist with document reproduction and facsimile services.

    Skills

    A successful Food Services Aid should have a variety of skills:

    • Basic Literacy: Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, and written communications.
    • Good Communication: Capable of effectively conveying information and interacting with visitors and colleagues.
    • Organizing: Efficiently manage tasks, supplies, and schedules.
    • Interpersonal Relations: Build positive relationships with staff and visitors.
    • Flexibility: Adapt to changing schedules and requirements.
    • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with colleagues to ensure smooth operations.

    Additional Attributes

    • Personal Hygiene: Maintaining personal hygiene is critical in this role. A Food Services Aid must adhere to strict hygiene standards to prevent any contamination of food and beverages.
    • Time Management: Effective time management skills are necessary to handle multiple tasks efficiently. The ability to prioritize and execute tasks promptly ensures that all duties are performed within the required timeframes.
    • Attention to Detail: Attention to detail is essential, particularly in managing boardroom arrangements and refreshment services. Ensuring that every aspect of the service meets high standards contributes significantly to the professionalism of the organization.
    • Professional Development: Continual professional development is encouraged. This may include attending workshops or training sessions on food safety, customer service, and other relevant areas to enhance the skills and knowledge required for the role.
