General Assistant Overview
- Position: General Assistant (SL2) x 3

- Contract Type: College Council Contract (6 – 12 Months)
- Salary: R131,265.00 per annum (plus 37% in lieu of benefits)

Requirements
- Education: Grade 10 Certificate
- Experience: 2 – 3 years of relevant experience in a cleaning environment such as a school or hostel. Experience in an educational environment with multiple facilities is advantageous.
- Skills:
- Basic knowledge of general hygiene practices
- Knowledge of cleaning products and applications
- Ability to use various cleaning equipment and products
- Basic literacy and communication skills
- Ability to effectively communicate in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape
- Willingness to work extended hours, including overtime, weekends, and public holidays

Duties and Responsibilities
Classrooms and Administrative Buildings
- Sweep and clean classroom floors, windows, desks, and chairs before and after periods.
- Maintain clean and hygienic toilets, ensuring supplies like hand wash materials and toilet paper are always available.
- Keep admin offices and halls clean for staff and students.
- Maintain cleanliness in OLC/computer rooms before and after student use.
- Clean and dust all computers and desks.
- Arrange chairs and tables in classrooms and examination rooms as required.
Kitchens and Staff Rooms
- Maintain a clean and hygienic staffroom.
- Ensure kitchens are clean before and after breaks.
Cleaning Materials Management
- Proper and correct use of cleaning materials.
- Issue kitchen utensils as needed.
- Efficiently and effectively use cleaning materials issued for cleaning classrooms and boardrooms.
