Job Purpose

The role involves performing various tasks related to preparing sites for electrical installations or maintenance and ensuring the safekeeping of tools and equipment.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education:
    • Grade 8
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 6 weeks of relevant experience
  • Skills:
    • Basic literacy (ability to read and write)
    • Effective communication in English, Afrikaans, IsiXhosa, and Sesotho
  • Other Requirements:
    • Willingness to work overtime
    • Physically fit and capable of manual labor

Key Responsibilities

  1. Tool and Equipment Handling
    • Selecting appropriate tools and equipment for electrical tasks
    • Conducting pre-start checks on tools and equipment
  2. Site Preparation and Maintenance
    • Digging trenches for pole planting and cable laying
    • Removing and replacing old poles to prevent power loss and incidents
  3. Equipment Transportation and Operation
    • Transporting necessary machinery and equipment to job sites
    • Operating hand-held equipment such as jackhammers to cut through concrete or tarred surfaces
  4. Storage Management
    • Packing and stacking equipment in storerooms for easy access according to classification schedules
