Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Appropriate qualification that allows registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner.
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with the HPCSA as Medical Practitioner.
- Experience: Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years’ appropriate experience as a Medical Practitioner after registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner in respect of SA qualified employees.
- A minimum of 11 years’ relevant experience after registration as Medical Practitioner with a recognised foreign Health Professional Council in respect of foreign qualified employees, of whom it is not required to perform Community Service as required in South Africa.
- Inherent requirements of the job: Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Extensive knowledge of clinical workflows, patient pathways, patient safety principles and clinical governance frameworks with proven strategic and improvement practices.
- Appropriate experience in the implementation, coordination and facilitation of improvement initiatives (lean implementation) in the hospital setting.
- Appropriate experience supporting and facilitating a daily management system for operational teams.
- Appropriate experience with implementing interventions for patient centred healthcare.
- Ability to analyse complex clinical systems and utilise healthcare data to inform decision-making and service redesign.
Duties
- Provide clinical leadership and expert advice in the planning, implementation and evaluation of strategic service improvement initiatives across the hospital.
- Analyse clinical pathways, patient flow, patient safety risks and operational processes to identify opportunities for system redesign and improved patient outcomes.
- Lead and facilitate multidisciplinary teams in the implementation of evidence-based improvement interventions aimed at enhancing quality of care, patient experience and operational efficiency.
- Coach and support managers, clinicians and frontline teams in the application of continuous improvement methodologies and problem-solving approaches.
- Promote the integration of clinical governance, quality improvement and patient safety principles into routine operational management practices.
- Utilise clinical and operational data to monitor performance, evaluate interventions and guide decision-making.
- Coordinate innovation and improvement projects, monitor outcomes and provide reports on the impact of initiatives on patient care, service delivery and resource utilisation.
