Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e., diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as Professional Nurse.
- A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 1 year accredited with the SANC in Advanced Midwifery and Neonatal Nursing Science(R212).
- OR A 4-year bachelor’s degree in nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A postgraduate diploma (R635) accredited with the SANC in Midwifery.
- Registration with a professional council: Registration with SANC as a Professional Nurse.
- Experience: A minimum of 9 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse with SANC in General Nursing.
- At least 5 years of the period above must be appropriate recognisable experience in the specific specialty after obtaining the 1-year post-basic, or post-graduate diploma in the relevant specialty.
- Inherent requirements of the job: Willingness to work overtime, weekends, shifts, public holidays and as operational needs arises.
- Competencies (knowledge/skills): Basic Computer literacy.
- Knowledge and insight of relevant legislation and policy related to this nursing specialty within the public sector.
- Ability to promote quality patient care through the setting, implementation, and monitoring of standards.
- Effective communication, interpersonal, leadership, decision making, and conflict resolution skills.
- Good organisational skills.
Duties
- Managing, planning, co-ordinating and maintain an optimal, specialised nursing in an Obstetric setting.
- Effective management and utilisation of human and financial resources to ensure optimal operational functions.
- Initiate and participate in training and research.
- Provisioning of effective support to Head of Nursing Service.
- Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and selfdevelopment.
