Requirements

  • Minimum educational qualification: Qualification that allows registration with SANC as a Staff Nurse.
  • Registration with a professional council: Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Staff Nurse.
  • Experience: Grade1: None Grade 2: A minimum of 10 years recognisable nursing experience as a Staff nurse after registration with the SANC Grade 3: A minimum of 20 years recognisable experience as an enrolled nurse after registration with the SANC.
  • Inherent requirement of the job: Willingness to work shifts, night duty, weekends and public holidays as well as overtime.
  • Ability to lift and turn patients, stand long hours and lift heavy equipment.
  • Willingness to rotate between departments.
  • Competencies (knowledge/skills): Ability to interpret basic clinical signs and symptoms.
  • Knowledge of Nursing Practices and IPC, control measures and practices.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Basic Computer Literacy.
  • Self-discipline.

  • Development and implementation of basic patient care plans.
  • Provide basic clinical nursing care.
  • Effective utilisation of resources.
  • Maintain professional growth/ethical standards and self-development.
