- A recognized Master’s degree in Educational Psychology
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Educational Psychologist
- Registration with the South African Council of Educators (SACE)
- A minimum of one year of experience in the field
- Thorough knowledge of major education and psychology-related legislation and policies
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written), networking abilities, and computer literacy
- Ability to work as part of a team and coordinate educational support for learners with disabilities
- Strong problem-solving skills and capacity to work under pressure
- Experience in supporting learners with disabilities is a plus
- A valid driver’s license, as the role involves travel
Duties:
- Promote inclusive education by ensuring access to quality public education for learners with disabilities
- Work as part of the District-Based Support Team, providing outreach services to care centres and special schools for learners with severe to profound intellectual disabilities (LSPID)
- Provide support to schools and care centres through the assessment of learners, provision of therapeutic and psychosocial interventions, and support to families and caregivers
- Monitor learners’ progress and assist in developing learning programs for learners with LSPID
- Provide training and support to caregivers and teachers on these learning programs
- Advocate for the rights and access of learners with disabilities to quality education
- Administrative duties, including managing data and generating reports on learner progress

Requirements:
- A qualification that allows registration with the HPCSA as a Speech and Language Therapist
- Registration with SACE is an added advantage
- Knowledge and understanding of education legislation and policies
- Experience in coordinating support for learners with disabilities is a plus
- Ability to work as part of a team, take initiatives, and solve problems
- Strong communication skills and computer literacy
- A valid driver’s license, as the job involves traveling to care centres and schools
Duties:
- Provide transversal outreach services to care centres and special schools, focusing on learners with severe to profound intellectual disabilities (LSPID)
- Assess learners in care centres and schools, and provide therapeutic interventions to learners and their families
- Train caregivers and teachers on learning programs for LSPID and monitor their implementation
- Collaborate with team members to monitor and report on the progress of learners
- Advocate for learners with disabilities, ensuring they have access to quality public education
- Assist with administrative tasks and maintain accurate data management
