    Available Positions at the North West Department of Agriculture and Rural Development

    1. Lecturer: Agricultural Financial Management
    • Reference Number: NWDARD 01/06/24
    • Salary: R376,413 per annum (Level 08)
    • Location: Potchefstroom Agricultural College

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification (NQF 7) in Agricultural Management or Economics.
    • Postgraduate qualification in teaching/training is advantageous.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in higher education and specialized area.
    • Current registration with AEASA (Agricultural Economics Association of South Africa) preferred.
    • Valid unendorsed motor vehicle driver’s license.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Computer Literacy).
    • Knowledge of research methodology.

    Duties:

    • Plan, prepare, and deliver theoretical and practical lectures.
    • Develop learner-oriented class activities.
    • Organize practical presentations, demonstrations, and related activities.
    • Procure necessary materials, inputs, and equipment for practical sessions.
    • Create assignments, class tests, and examination question papers.
    • Design practical assessment tools and rubrics for fair evaluation.
    • Conduct literature reviews and contribute to material development.
    • Update and enhance existing course materials.
    • Provide input for curriculum development and improvement.
    • Manage administrative tasks related to teaching and learning.

    2. Lecturer: Horticulture

    • Reference Number: NWDARD 02/06/2024
    • Position: Lecturer (Agriculture – Plant Production specializing in Vegetable and Fruit Production)
    • Salary: R376,413 per annum (Level 08)
    • Location: Potchefstroom Agricultural College

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (NQF 7) specializing in Plant Production with a focus on Vegetable and Fruit Production.
    • Teaching/training qualification is required.
    • Honours Degree will be advantageous.
    • 2-3 years of relevant experience in Vegetable and Fruit Production.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in higher education and training.
    • Knowledge of research methodology.
    • Current registration with SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions) preferred.
    • Valid unendorsed motor vehicle driver’s license.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office (Computer Literacy).

    Duties:

    • Plan, prepare, and deliver theoretical and practical lectures in Vegetable and Fruit Production.
    • Develop learner-oriented class activities and curriculum.
    • Organize and oversee practical presentations, demonstrations, and related activities.
    • Procure necessary materials, inputs, and equipment for practical sessions.
    • Create assignments, class tests, and examination question papers.
    • Design practical assessment tools and rubrics for fair evaluation.

    • Position: Lecturer (Agriculture – Animal Production)
    • Salary: R376,413 per annum (Level 08)
    • Location: Potchefstroom Agricultural College

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture (NQF 7) specializing in Animal Production or equivalent qualification.
    • Teaching/training qualification required; Honours Degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in Animal Production.
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in higher education and training.
    • Knowledge of research methodology.
    • Current registration with SACNASP (South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions) advantageous.
    • Valid unendorsed motor vehicle driver’s license.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • Computer Literacy (MS Office).

    Duties:

    • Plan, prepare, and deliver theoretical and practical lectures in Animal Production.
    • Develop learner-oriented class activities and curriculum.
    • Organize and oversee practical presentations, demonstrations, and related activities.
    • Procure necessary materials, inputs, and equipment for practical sessions.
    • Compile assignments, class tests, and examination question papers.
    • Design practical assessment tools and rubrics to ensure fair evaluation.
    • Conduct literature reviews and contribute to material development.
    • Update and enhance existing course materials as required.
    • Provide inputs for curriculum development and improvement.
    • Manage administrative tasks associated with teaching and learning.

    • Position: Lecturer (Soil Science or related field)
    • Salary: R376,413 per annum (Level 08)
    • Location: Potchefstroom Agricultural College

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (NQF 7) in Soil Science or a related field.
    • Postgraduate qualification in teaching/training preferred.
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience in higher education and training.
    • Current registration with SACNASP advantageous.
    • Valid unendorsed driver’s license.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
    • Proficiency in MS Office.
    • Knowledge of research methodology.

    Duties:

    • Plan and deliver theoretical and practical lectures in Soil Science.
    • Develop learner-focused class activities.
    • Organize practical presentations and demonstrations.
    • Procure materials and equipment for practical sessions.
    • Compile assignments, tests, and question papers.
    • Design fair assessment tools and rubrics.
    • Conduct literature reviews and contribute to material development.
    • Update and improve existing course materials.
