    Registry Clerk Job Description

    The Registry Clerk role within the Western Cape Department of Agriculture requires a competent individual to provide effective registry services. The successful candidate will manage the registry functions, including the filing, storage, and retrieval of documents, ensuring the department’s records are well-maintained and easily accessible.

    Key Responsibilities of the Registry Clerk

    As a Registry Clerk, you will be expected to carry out various administrative duties, including but not limited to:

    1. Provide Registry Services: You will handle incoming and outgoing correspondence, ensuring all documents are properly logged, filed, and processed.
    2. Filing and Record Management: Maintain accurate filing systems and ensure the correct storage and retrieval of records. You will be responsible for processing documents for archiving or disposal.
    3. Operating Office Machines: You will be expected to operate office machines relevant to the registry service, ensuring all tasks are completed efficiently.
    4. Document Processing: Handle documents according to established procedures, ensuring all records are maintained in line with legislative requirements.

    Minimum Requirements

    To be eligible for this position, you must meet the following minimum qualifications and criteria:

    • Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification).
    • Recommendation:
      • Clerical or relevant experience will be beneficial.
      • A valid Code B (or higher) driving license is required. However, individuals with disabilities that restrict their driving abilities may also apply, provided they have reasonable access to transportation.

    To succeed as a Registry Clerk, the ideal candidate should possess the following competencies:

    1. Registry Duties & Practices: A good understanding of registry functions and how they support overall operations.
    2. Computer Literacy: You must be proficient in using computers and relevant software, as the role requires document processing and record management.
    3. Legislative Framework: Understanding of the legislative framework governing the public service and how it impacts records management.
    4. Organizational Skills: Proven skills in planning, organizing, and managing multiple tasks effectively.
    5. Communication Skills: The role requires strong written and verbal communication skills to interact with colleagues and manage documentation.
    6. Teamwork and Independence: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team setting.

    Remuneration and Benefits

    The salary range for this position is between R228,321 and R268,950 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. In addition to the salary, employees are entitled to service benefits, including:
