Recognizing this, the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) is committed to empowering young South Africans by offering financial support through its bursary programme.     Fields Covered

    For the 2025 academic year, the RSR is offering bursaries to undergraduate students in the following disciplines:

    • Civil Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering
    • Financial Management
    • Human Resources Management
    • Information Technology
    • Internal Audit
    • Law
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Media and Communication
    • Risk Management
    • Supply Chain Management

    This comprehensive bursary programme is designed to empower students with financial support and ensure a skilled workforce for the future of South Africa’s railway industry.

    Eligibility Criteria

    To qualify for the RSR bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    1. Citizenship: You must be a South African citizen.
    2. Age: Applicants must be between 15 and 35 years old.
    3. Education Level:
      • Must be in Matric (2024) or have completed Matric.
      • Should intend to study or already be studying full-time toward an undergraduate qualification in the listed fields.
    4. Institution Requirement: Must be enrolled or accepted to study at an accredited South African tertiary institution, including TVET colleges, universities of technology, and public or private universities.
    5. Academic Performance:
      • If entering the first year in 2025, a minimum overall average of 65% in Grade 11 final results or Matric mid-term results is required.
      • If already studying, an average of 65% in the current year of study is necessary.
    6. No Alternative Sponsorship: Applicants must not be receiving financial assistance or a bursary from another organization.

    Application Process

    Steps to Apply

    Applications must be completed and submitted online via the Railway Safety Regulator Bursary Application Form 2025.

    Required Supporting Documents

    Along with the online application form, applicants must submit certified copies of the following:

    1. ID Document
    2. Matric Results (if currently in Matric) or Matric Certificate (if completed).
    3. Full Academic Record (for those currently studying).
    4. Proof of Registration/Admission from a tertiary institution.
    5. Quotation for Tuition Fees for the academic year.
    6. Motivational Letter explaining why you deserve the bursary.

    Note: Ensure all documents are clear and certified. Missing documents may result in disqualification.

    The closing date for applications is 17 January 2025. Late applications will not be considered, so applicants are encouraged to apply early.
