    If you are a skilled software developer seeking a short-term but impactful role, the CHIETA Head Office in Gauteng is offering an exciting 6-month fixed-term contract. The position reports directly to the ICT Manager within the Innovation & Technology Business Unit, providing an opportunity to contribute to meaningful projects that support CHIETA’s goals.


    Software Developer Job Overview

    • Position: Software Developer (Temporary)
    • Location: Gauteng
    • Duration: Fixed-term contract (6 months)
    • Application Deadline: 06 December 2024
    • Feedback Date: If no response is received by 01 February 2025, consider your application unsuccessful.

    Minimum Requirements

    To qualify for this position, candidates must meet the following academic and professional criteria:

    Education:

    • A minimum three-year Diploma or Degree in one of the following fields:
      • Software Development
      • Computer Science
      • Information Technology
      • Information Systems
      • Informatics
      • Financial Information Systems
      • Or an equivalent qualification

    Experience:

    • At least 3 years of systems development experience, preferably as a Lead Developer.

    Technical Expertise:

    • Web and Mobile Development: Proficiency in modern development frameworks and languages.
    • Programming Frameworks:
      • .NET Core Framework
      • ASP.NET
      • MVC
      • Web API and Core
    • Frontend Technologies:
      • HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript
      • Libraries/Frameworks: jQuery, Angular, React
    • Backend Development:
      • ORM (Object Relational Mapping)
      • Web Services (REST and SOAP)
      • Workflow Systems
    • Database Knowledge:
      • SQL Server (2012-2019)
      • MySQL (5.6 – 8.0)
      • Database Design principles

    Key Responsibilities

    As a Software Developer at CHIETA, your duties will span multiple aspects of software design, development, and user support. Here’s what the role entails:

    Development and Support:

    • Execute assigned programming and development tasks.
    • Provide ICT support to various business units within CHIETA.
    • Train and support end-users on software systems.

    Collaboration:

    • Conduct Joint Application Development (JAD) sessions to discuss project progress and gather requirements.
    • Collaborate with the Project Manager and the University of Johannesburg’s project team to develop and maintain software guidelines.

    Administrative Duties:

    • Ensure proper documentation for all ICT Unit activities.
    • Assist with generating reports for internal and external stakeholders.
    • Schedule appointments with service providers and business units.

    Goal Alignment:

    • Ensure project goals align with CHIETA’s organizational objectives.
