    Sport and Recreation Officer Job Overview

    • Position: Sport and Recreation Officer

    • Salary Scale: TASK LEVEL 12 – Total cost to company – R600,153.12 – R755,697.76 per annum

    Sport and Recreation Officer Job Purpose

    The primary purpose of the Sport and Recreation Officer role is to coordinate key functions associated with sport facilities and swimming pools in alignment with both short and long-term service delivery objectives.

    Requirements

    To be eligible for the position, candidates must possess:

    • Educational Qualification: Equivalent Diploma or National Certificate relevant to Sport and Recreational Management.
    • Experience: At least 5 years of relevant experience.

    Required Skills and Competencies

    The successful candidate should demonstrate the following skills and competencies:

    Skills

    • Managerial and Supervisory Skills: Ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
    • Communication Skills: Proficiency in conveying information clearly and effectively.
    • Computer Literacy: Competence in using Microsoft Word and Excel.
    • Attention to Detail: Ability to ensure accuracy and thoroughness in tasks.
    • Language Proficiency: Fluency in at least two of the official languages of the Western Cape.

    • Problem Solving: Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve issues efficiently.
    • Planning and Organizing: Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and projects.
    • Organisational Awareness: Understanding of the organizational structure, culture, and politics.
    • Discipline Specific Skills: Expertise in sports and recreational management.
    • Interpersonal Relationships: Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
    • Service Delivery Orientation: Commitment to providing high-quality service to the community.
    • Ethics and Accountability: High ethical standards and accountability for actions.
    • People Management: Effective management of team members.
    • Task Management: Efficient handling and prioritization of tasks.
    • Workplace Safety: Knowledge of and adherence to workplace safety protocols.
    • Direction Setting: Ability to set clear directions and goals for the team.
    • Coaching and Mentoring: Ability to support and develop team members.
    • Team Orientation: Strong emphasis on teamwork and collaboration.

    General Information

    • Service Bonus: Equivalent to one month’s salary, supplemented by the normal benefits applicable to the Municipality, including a housing allowance for homeowners subject to certain conditions.
