    Training Officer Job Description

    The Training Officer role aims to design, deliver, and evaluate comprehensive training programs that prepare firefighters and emergency responders with the knowledge, skills, and competencies necessary to perform their duties effectively and safely.

    Responsibilities

    The Training Officer will:

    • Develop, deliver, and assess classroom and practical training.
    • Ensure that emergency responders are equipped to handle their roles safely and efficiently.
    • Participate in community outreach programs to promote fire safety.

    Minimum Application Requirements

    Education and Qualifications

    • Grade 12.
    • Required:
      • National Diploma in Fire Technology, Associate Diploma in Fire Technology (SAESI), or Graduate Diploma in Fire Engineering Science (IFE).
      • Fire Service Instructor 1 Certificate.
      • Facilitator Course.
      • Valid Code C driving licence with valid PrDP.
    • Advantageous:
      • BTech or advanced diploma in a relevant field.
      • Fire Service Instructor 2 Certificate.
      • Assessor Course.

    Experience

    • A minimum of 3-5 years in a fire and rescue operational environment.

    Skills

    • Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
    • Verbal and written communication.
    • Planning and organising.
    • Financial management.
    • Negotiation and conflict resolution.
    • Strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities.

    Personal Attributes

    • Ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure.
    • Time management and organisational skills.
    • Readiness for on-call duty, overtime, and short-notice work during weekends, public holidays, and after hours.

    Primary Functions

    As a Training Officer, your responsibilities will include:
