University of Free State-Waiter Position Overview:

Duties and Responsibilities:
Table Preparation:
- Prepare tables for service according to restaurant standards.
Customer Service:
- Greet and escort customers to their tables.
- Present the menu and provide detailed information about dishes, ingredients, and allergens.
- Inform customers about daily specials and offer menu recommendations.
- Take accurate food and drink orders from customers.
Order Management:
- Communicate order details to the Kitchen Staff promptly.
- Serve food and drinks to customers.
- Up-sell additional products when appropriate.
Billing and Service:
- Deliver checks and collect bill payments from customers.
Table Maintenance:
- Clear and clean tables after customers leave.
- Restock items in the front of house as needed.
Customer Satisfaction:
- Provide excellent customer service to ensure a positive dining experience.
Health and Safety:
- Follow health code standards and guidelines for food handling.
Barista Duties:
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffees to a high standard.
Event Support:
- Assist with events and functions, including setting up and rearranging tables.
Flexibility:
- Available to work weekends and after hours as required.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Perform any other duties assigned by Housing and Residence Affairs.
Requirements:
Inherent Requirements:
- Completion of Grade 12 or National Vocational Certificate on NQF Level 4.
Recommendations:
- Minimum of one (1) year experience working as a waiter.
- Familiarity with Point-of-Sale (POS) Systems.
- Experience in barista duties, including the preparation and service of various coffees to a high standard.
