    The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority (SAHPRA) is looking for an experienced and passionate administrative professional to fill the role of Senior Admin Officer. This vital position is integral to SAHPRA’s mission of ensuring the safety, efficacy, and quality of health products in South Africa. The successful candidate will be a dedicated and skilled individual with a proven track record in administration.

    • Salary: R 408,032 – R 433,074 per annum (Total Cost to Company)
    • Reference Number: SAHPRA 024/2024
    • Location: Pretoria
    • Role: Senior Admin Officer in Pharmacovigilance

    About the South African Health Products Regulatory Authority

    The South African Health Products Regulatory Authority is a crucial institution in South Africa, responsible for regulating health products to ensure they are safe, effective, and of high quality. Established to safeguard public health, SAHPRA operates under the National Department of Health and is governed by the Medicines and Related Substances Act 101 of 1965.

    Its regulatory functions encompass medicines, medical devices, complementary medicines, and foodstuffs. The authority is committed to being a responsive, competent, and efficient regulator that maintains the highest standards in the interests of public health.

    Requirements:

    • Education:
      • Matric Certificate
      • National Diploma in Office Administration and Technology, Administration, Public Management, or a related qualification at NQF Level 6 (SAQA-recognized)
      • A related qualification at NQF Level 7 is advantageous
    • Experience:
      • Minimum of 2 years in an administrative role
      • Experience in a regulatory environment is a plus
    • License: Valid driver’s license

    Knowledge and Skills:

    • Thorough understanding of relevant legislation and guidelines related to the Medicines and Related Substances Act 101 of 1965
    • Strong verbal and numerical reasoning skills for data analysis and interpretation
    • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
    • Effective under pressure with strong communication skills (verbal, written, conflict management)
    • Good planning, organizational skills, and proficiency in MS Office
    • Proactive and service-oriented with a focus on performance-based management
    • Adherence to ethical standards and Code of Conduct

    Duties:

    • Maintain activity trackers for healthcare professionals (HCPs) and the Pharmacovigilance Advisory Committee (PVC)
    • Prepare agendas and documents for meetings, including Committees, sub-committees, working groups, and other stakeholders
    • Draft and communicate recommendation letters to certificate holders, applicants, and PV stakeholders
    • Update audit folders with relevant documentation
    • Assist with administrative tasks related to PV stakeholder travels and trainings
    • Travel with the PV training team as required
