In this position, the successful candidate will be essential in developing and implementing policies that drive positive outcomes and support the community’s needs.

    Social Work Policy Developer Position Overview

    • Job Title: Social Work Policy Developer: Services to Families

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Qualifications:
      • Bachelor of Social Work or equivalent degree.
      • Professional registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker.
      • A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in social work post-registration.
      • Valid driving license (Code B or higher).
    • Recommendation:
      • None specified.

    Key Performance Areas:

    • Develop and manage social work policies.
    • Oversee the Uniform Funding Cycle (UFC) and Non-Profit Organization (NPO) funding processes.
    • Monitor family services and compliance with the White Paper on Families.
    • Manage stakeholder relationships and administrative functions.
    • Suspend UFC funding if required and ensure NPO compliance with Transfer Payment Agreements (TPA) and relevant legislation.
    • Address complaints or concerns about NPOs or programs promptly.
    • Register and accredit facilities, NPOs, and other relevant entities in line with legislation.

    Competencies:

    • Knowledge:
      • Analytical and diagnostic tools, policy assessment, and evaluation methods.
      • Social work legislation, theory, and interventions.
      • Information and knowledge management, professional ethics, and protocol.
    • Skills:
      • Organizing, planning, and project management.
      • Networking, professional counseling, policy analysis, and development.
      • Presentation, facilitation, problem-solving, and financial management.
      • Monitoring, evaluation, and contract management.
      • Computer literacy and effective communication (both written and verbal).

    Remuneration:

    • Grade 1: R429,573 – R487,650 per annum.
    • Grade 2: R507,198 – R687,918 per annum (OSD as prescribed).

    Note: Remuneration includes all costs related to service benefits, such as basic salary, 13th cheque, medical assistance, housing assistance, and pension contributions.
