1. Forecaster (Level 9) – DRR
- Location: Head Office, Centurion
- Reference: WS05/092024
- Job Summary: The Forecaster is responsible for generating and monitoring weather forecasts, severe weather warnings, and communicating these through various media platforms. They will also liaise with stakeholders and promote awareness of SAWS products and services.
- Requirements:
- BSc Honours Degree in Meteorology or equivalent
- 3 years of weather forecasting experience
- Ability to work under pressure and in shifts
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport

2. Senior Forecaster – DRR (x2)
- Location: Head Office, Centurion
- Reference: WS06/092024
- Job Summary: The Senior Forecaster will provide supervisory oversight on weather forecasting operations and products. They will also assist with stakeholder relations, client communications, and provide mentorship to junior personnel.
- Requirements:
- BSc Honours Degree in Meteorology or equivalent
- 5 years of weather forecasting experience
- Knowledge of SAWS policies and a solid understanding of Public Finance and Management Act
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transport

3. Senior Meteorological Technician
- Location: Cape Town Weather Office
- Reference: WS01/092024
- Job Summary: This role involves performing and supervising technical weather observation tasks, maintaining SAWS observation infrastructure, and ensuring quality control of collected data.
- Requirements:
- Grade 12 certificate with Maths and Science
- Weather Observers certificate and AMO competency certificate
- 2 years’ experience as a Meteorological Technician
- Valid driver’s license

4. Meteorological Technician (De Aar)
- Location: De Aar Weather Office
- Reference: WS02/092024
- Job Summary: The Meteorological Technician will handle routine weather observations, ensure quality control of data, and maintain SAWS observation infrastructure.
- Requirements:
- Grade 12 certificate with Maths and Science
- Weather Observers certificate
- Ability to obtain an AMO certificate within 6 months
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one within 3 months)

5. Meteorological Technician (Cape Town)
- Location: Cape Town Weather Office
- Reference: WS03/092024
- Job Summary: This position involves visual weather observation, quality control of automatic weather station data, and maintaining SAWS observation infrastructure.

- Weather Observers certificate
- Valid driver’s license (or ability to obtain one within 3 months)

6. Chief Meteorological Technician
- Location: Bethlehem Office

- Job Summary: The Chief Meteorological Technician will provide supervisory and technical oversight of meteorological observations. They will also be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of weather observation equipment.

- Grade 12 certificate with Maths and Science
- Weather Observers certificate and AMO competency certificate
- 5 years of experience in weather observation
- Valid driver’s license
