    The Road Accident Fund (RAF) is seeking to fill five Administrative Assistant positions within its Claims Division in Johannesburg, Gauteng. These roles are offered on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with a salary of R244,732.00 per annum. Applications close on April 1, 2025.

    About the Road Accident Fund (RAF)

    The Road Accident Fund (RAF) is a state-supported insurance body that provides compulsory cover to all users of South African roads against injuries or death arising from motor vehicle accidents. The Fund’s primary mission is to rehabilitate and compensate individuals injured in accidents and to promote the safe use of roads across the country.

    Purpose of the Role

    The Administrative Assistant will support the Adjudication department by handling day-to-day administrative tasks. This role is essential for ensuring smooth office operations, compliance with internal policies, and timely service delivery.

    Key Responsibilities

    1. Compliance Administration

    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of department activities
    • Ensure compliance with RAF’s policies and internal controls
    • Stay informed on internal standards and business objectives

    2. Office Coordination

    • Follow up on unresolved matters
    • Respond to departmental requests within required timeframes
    • Manage the availability of office stationery
    • Verify and validate documents for correct capturing
    • Maintain departmental systems and registers
    • Identify and report duplicate queries or documentation
    • Allocate reference numbers and correctly log documents
    • Assign tasks to relevant team members
    • Draft and dispatch letters to stakeholders

    3. Meeting Support

    • Schedule meetings and appointments with stakeholders
    • Take and circulate minutes in line with governance protocols
    • Maintain registers to track unresolved issues
    • Develop follow-up plans for action items
    • Manage diaries and confirm meetings

    4. Document and Records Management

    • Maintain the filing system according to RAF’s plan
    • Retrieve documents as needed
    • Ensure confidentiality and secure handling of all documents
    • Acknowledge, file, and track all documentation appropriately

    Minimum Requirements

    Qualifications

    • Matric / Grade 12 Certificate

    Experience

    • Minimum of 1 year in an administrative or similar environment

    Technical Skills

    • MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
    • Administrative and document management

    Employment Terms

    • RAF offers a Total Employment Cost (TEC) package – there are no additional employer contributions.
    • Successful candidates are expected to manage and structure their TEC package according to personal requirements.
