    Rand Water is seeking a Building Projects Clerk on a fixed-term 24-month contract to join its Strategy Portfolio. This role offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented individual with a background in civil engineering and pipeline projects.


    Based in Glenvista, Gauteng, at the Rietvlei site, the position will focus on ensuring the protection of Rand Water’s pipelines, servitudes, and ancillary structures while accommodating external stakeholders in accordance with the organization’s policies and standards.

    Role Overview

    The Building Projects Clerk will handle critical tasks such as managing wayleave applications, updating project records, and liaising with stakeholders to ensure the timely and accurate execution of duties. The successful candidate will be instrumental in protecting infrastructure, managing data systems, and ensuring smooth operations between Rand Water and external authorities.

    Key Responsibilities

    The primary duties for this position include:

    1. Wayleave Management:
      • Update the outgoing wayleave spreadsheet daily with precision.
      • Utilize online systems to process wayleave requests.
      • Prepare comprehensive wayleave packs for external stakeholders and follow up on approvals.
      • Notify Project Managers and Land Surveyors of wayleave expiration dates and submit valid approvals for action.
    2. Project Documentation and Reporting:
      • Maintain daily records of outgoing wayleave information.
      • Submit general correspondence and approvals for archiving.
      • Compile weekly steering committee reports and bi-weekly updates on wayleave progress.
      • Accurately track any changes to wayleave data.
    3. Stakeholder Engagement:
      • Attend site meetings to represent Rand Water’s interests.
      • Liaise regularly with Project Managers to ensure alignment.
      • Communicate effectively with external stakeholders to expedite approvals and resolve issues.
    4. Compliance and Oversight:
      • Ensure adherence to Rand Water’s specifications and standards.
      • Stay updated on advancements in pipeline engineering and relevant technologies.

    Minimum Requirements

    Applicants must meet the following criteria:

    • Education: Grade 12 certificate.
    • Experience: At least two years of post-qualification experience in civil engineering construction or pipeline projects.
    • Knowledge: Familiarity with wayleaves, servitudes, and encroachment processes.

    • Broad understanding of pipeline engineering.
    • Ability to interpret drawings and specifications to pre-empt potential challenges.
