    The Department of Sport, Arts and Culture (DSAC) in South Africa is seeking qualified and dedicated individuals to join their team as Candidate Construction Project Managers. These positions offer a unique opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of infrastructure within the sports, arts, and cultural sectors.     Candidate Construction Project Managers Overview

    • Position Type: Two positions are available.
    • Salary: R721,476 – R765,747 (An all-inclusive remuneration salary package in line with the Occupational Specific Dispensation for Engineering Professionals).
    • Location: Pretoria
    • Closing Date:12 August 2024 at 12:00.

    Requirements

    Educational Qualifications

    Candidates applying for the Candidate Construction Project Managers position must meet one of the following educational criteria:

    • National Higher Diploma in a Built Environment field with a minimum of 18 months’ experience.
    • Three-year Degree or National Diploma (NQF 6) in a Built Environment field with a minimum of 2 years’ experience.
    • BTech Degree in a Built Environment field with a minimum of 1-year experience.
    • Honours Degree in a Built Environment field with no prior experience required.

    Additional Requirements

    • Driver’s License: A valid Code 08 driver’s license is mandatory.
    • Travel and Work Hours: Willingness to travel extensively and work irregular hours.
    • Professional Registration: Must register with the South African Council for the Project and Construction Management Profession (SACPCMP) as a Candidate Construction Project Manager upon appointment.
    • Knowledge and Skills:
      • Knowledge of the Government Immovable Asset Management Act (GIAMA) and Framework for Infrastructure Delivery and Procurement Management.
      • Experience in contract management, including contract specification, oversight, and monitoring.
      • Understanding of project management principles and methodologies.
      • Legal compliance knowledge, research, and development capabilities.
      • Proficiency in computer-aided engineering applications.
      • Strong technical report writing, planning, and organizing skills.
      • Problem-solving and analysis abilities.
      • Competency in presentation and communication technologies and document management systems.
      • Ability to manage projects in a complex environment.
      • Decision-making, teamwork, customer focus, and responsiveness.

    Key Responsibilities

    Project Management

    • Manage and oversee all aspects of projects supporting capital and technical maintenance projects under the supervision of the Director: Facilities Management.
    • Plan, implement, monitor, report, and evaluate projects in line with project management methodology.
    • Create and execute project work plans, revising as needed to meet changing requirements.
    • Identify resources and assign individual responsibilities.
    • Manage day-to-day operational aspects of a project and its scope.
    • Apply methodology effectively and enforce project standards to minimize risks.
    • Report project progress to the Director: Infrastructure Development.

    Budget and Resource Management

    • Manage project budgets and resources in consultation with the Director: Facilities Management.

    Office Administration

    • Provide inputs to the Director: Facilities Management regarding tender administration.
    • Liaise and interact with service providers, clients, and management under the guidance of the Director: Facilities Management.
    • Contribute to human resources activities.
    • Maintain the record management system and the architectural library.
    • Utilize allocated resources effectively.
    • Prepare quarterly reports and project status/site visit reports.

    Professional Development

    • Keep up with new Built Environment technologies and procedures.
    • Conduct research and literature reviews on new developments in project management methodologies.
    • Liaise with relevant bodies/councils on project management.

    Application Requirements

    • Each application must be submitted separately.
    • Applications must include a recently updated, comprehensive CV.
    • A fully completed, initialled, and signed new Z83 form (Sections A, B, C & D are compulsory; Sections E, F, and G are optional if the information is included in the CV). Note that using the old Z83 Form will result in disqualification.
    • Only shortlisted candidates will be required to bring certified copies of their ID, driver’s license (if required), and qualifications before the interview. Foreign qualifications must be accompanied by an evaluation certificate from the South African Qualification Authority (SAQA).
    • Applicants must be South African citizens or Permanent Residents. Non-SA citizens must submit proof of permanent residence if shortlisted.
    • Shortlisted candidates must be available for a virtual or in-person panel interview at a date and time determined by DSAC. Necessary data and equipment for virtual interviews should be available.
    • Pre-employment checks and references will be conducted for shortlisted candidates, including security clearance, vetting, qualification verification, citizenship verification, financial/asset record checks, previous employment verification, and criminal records.
