    The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Health has recently announced an exciting vacancy for a Clinical Nurse Practitioner (CNP) at the KwaMashu Community Health Centre (CHC), particularly for mobile clinic services.     Clinical Nurse Practitioner Job Overview

    • Position: Clinical Nurse Practitioner – Primary Health Care (PHC) for Mobile Clinics
    • Location: KwaMashu CHC, KwaZulu-Natal

    • Salary Range: R451,533 – R530,376 per annum
    • Benefits: Includes a 13th cheque, rural allowance (if eligible), home owner’s allowance (if applicable), and optional medical aid.

    Eligibility Requirements

    To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet several specific qualifications and experience requirements:

    1. Educational Requirements:
      • A Diploma or Degree in Nursing (Basic R425 qualification), which qualifies for registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
      • A one-year post-basic qualification in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment, and Care (specific to Primary Health Care).
    2. Registration:
      • Current registration with SANC for 2024, indicating an active Professional Nurse status.
    3. Experience:
      • A minimum of four years of relevant experience in nursing after registration with SANC in General Nursing.
      • Proof of previous work experience, endorsed by the Human Resource department, is essential.
    4. Other Skills and Competencies:
      • Knowledge of nursing care processes, procedures, and legal frameworks such as the Nursing Act, Occupational Health and Safety Act, Patient Rights Charter, and Batho Pele principles.
      • Proficiency in computer programs, financial budgeting, and understanding public service regulations.
      • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict-handling skills.
      • A valid Code 10 driver’s license is mandatory, and a Public Driving Permit (PDP) is recommended.

    Key Responsibilities and Duties

    As a Clinical Nurse Practitioner at the KwaMashu CHC, the selected candidate will have a wide range of responsibilities focused on providing quality healthcare services, including:

    1. Primary Health Care Services:
      • Delivering comprehensive primary health care, prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services to clients and communities.
      • Promoting preventive health measures and managing communicable and non-communicable diseases.
    2. Outreach and Community Engagement:
      • Developing and implementing monthly work plans for outreach points, with a focus on hard-to-reach areas requiring healthcare services.
      • Actively participating in outreach campaigns to enhance service delivery and meet performance targets.
    3. Health Education and Counseling:
      • Providing adherence counseling and primary prevention strategies, especially in line with the 95/95/95 HIV/AIDS management strategy.
      • Promoting awareness around various health issues to empower patients and communities.
    4. Resource Management:
      • Overseeing the utilization of resources, including medical supplies and equipment, to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
      • Supervising a multidisciplinary team, providing leadership and guidance to ensure a collaborative and disciplined work environment.
    5. Quality Assurance and Compliance:
      • Enforcing compliance with quality and infection prevention protocols such as the Ideal Clinic Realization and Maintenance (ICRM) and Norms and Standards (N&S).
      • Collecting, collating, and analyzing data for quality improvement in service delivery.
    6. Staff Development and Performance Management:
      • Coordinating staff training and development to increase expertise in patient care.
      • Evaluating staff performance regularly and ensuring accountability and adherence to institutional policies.
