    Tshwane University of Technology is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for emerging professionals with the invitation to apply for four Counselling Psychology Internships. These internships are tailored for individuals eager to develop their skills and gain hands-on experience within a dynamic and supportive environment. Interns will have the chance to work alongside seasoned practitioners, engage in meaningful client interactions, and contribute to impactful psychological services.

    • Position: Counselling Psychology Intern
    • Duration: 12 months
    • Location: Directorate of Student Development and Support, Pretoria Campus

    About the Directorate of Student Development and Support (SDS)

    The Directorate of Student Development and Support (SDS) at Tshwane University of Technology is committed to promoting the well-being and academic success of its students. Through various services, including counselling, academic support, and life skills training, the SDS plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive and nurturing environment on campus. The four Counselling Psychology Internship positions are part of this mission, offering emerging professionals the opportunity to gain practical experience while contributing to the holistic development of TUT students.

    Critical Performance Areas

    • Provide professional counselling services to registered TUT students.
    • Support the academic and personal development of TUT students.
    • Participate in psycho-educative programmes, presentations, and training.
    • Conduct Life Skills classes.
    • Offer individual and group counselling at a local children’s home.
    • Adhere to administrative requirements of SDS.
    • Collaborate effectively within a team.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Currently registered as an MA (Counselling Psychology) student at a recognized university.

    Personal Competencies

    • Proficiency in individual and group counselling.
    • Effective stress and time management skills.
    • Strong communication abilities.
    • Capacity for mentoring and providing guidance.
    • Organizational skills and the ability to work independently.
    • Team collaboration skills.
    • Initiative, creativity, and innovation.
    • Presentation, lecturing, and facilitation skills.
    • Adherence to professional ethics and confidentiality.
