    Department of Justice and Constitutional Development Vacancies

    1. Solicitor-General

    • Contract Type: 5-Year Renewable
    • Salary: R1,741,770 – R1,962,090 (inclusive package)
    • Location: National Office, Pretoria

    Requirements

    • Education: Undergraduate (NQF level 7) and Postgraduate (NQF level 8) legal qualifications
    • Experience: Minimum 8 years in senior management, 3 years in SMS (Public Service or State Entity)
    • Legal Qualifications: Admission as an Advocate/Attorney of the High Court
    • Skills: Extensive litigation experience, constitutional law knowledge, public administration understanding

    Duties

    • Oversee all state litigation and develop policies for State Attorney offices
    • Manage resources including human, financial, and operational aspects
    • Represent the department in legal matters at various government levels

    2. Chief Director: Litigation Policy, Planning & Strategy

    • Contract Type: Permanent
    • Salary: R1,436,022 – R1,716,933 (inclusive package)
    • Location: National Office, Pretoria

    • Education: NQF level 7 qualification in Law
    • Experience: 8 years of litigation experience, 5 years in senior management

    • Skills: Public service frameworks knowledge, financial management, court judgments understanding

    Duties

    • Manage policy development and ensure compliance with court orders
    • Assess strategic litigation plans and implement risk mitigation strategies
    • Handle people management and performance evaluation

    3. Director: Employee Relations

    • Contract Type: Permanent
    • Salary: R1,216,824 – R1,433,355 (inclusive package)
    • Location: National Office, Pretoria

    Duties

    • Manage grievances and disciplinary processes
    • Oversee negotiations and maintain relationships within the department
    • Handle human and financial resource management

    4. Director: Infrastructure Delivery Services

    • Contract Type: Permanent
    • Salary: R1,216,824 – R1,433,355 (inclusive package)
    • Location: National Office, Pretoria

    • Develop and implement construction procurement strategies
    • Oversee infrastructure program implementation and plans
    • Manage agency agreements and construction management services

    5. Director: Infrastructure Planning

    • Salary: R1,216,824 – R1,433,355 (inclusive package)

    • Manage infrastructure planning projects and User Asset Management Plans
    • Oversee professional services related to the built environment

    6. Director: Employee Health and Wellness

    • Department of Justice and Constitutional Development

    • Salary: R1,216,824 – R1,433,355 (inclusive package)

    • Develop and implement health and wellness programs
    • Oversee HIV, TB, and STIs interventions
    • Handle safety, health, and risk management processes

    7. Director: Tribunal and Quasi-Judiciary

    • Department of Justice and Constitutional Development

    • Oversee legal procedures for court demarcations

    8. State Law Advisor (3 Posts)

    • Salary: R884,268 – R1,459,071 (based on OSD determination)

    Requirements

    • Education: LLB or recognized 4-year legal qualification
    • Experience: 5 years post-qualification experience in litigation/advisory roles

    • Knowledge: Public Finance Management Act (PFMA), constitutional law

    Duties

    • Draft and evaluate primary and subordinate legislation
    • Conduct socio-economic impact assessments
    • Perform legal research and prepare reports
