The Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts, and Culture (DSRAC) is offering internship opportunities for graduates as part of its efforts to address youth unemployment in South Africa. The DSRAC Internship Programme /In-Service Training 2024/2025 (24 Months) internships will provide candidates with invaluable work experience in the public sector over a 24-month period. Below is an outline of the application process, requirements, and duties for the various internship positions.
DSRAC Internship Programme Objectives
The internship programme aims to provide unemployed graduates, particularly those between 18 and 35 years old, with practical work experience. It is a part of the government’s developmental programmes, including internships, learnerships, and graduate recruitment schemes. The duration of this internship will not exceed 24 months, and candidates can only enter the programme once.

Requirements
- Minimum NQF level 6 qualification in one of the following:
- IT
- Communications Networks
- Desktop Support
- Computer Science
- Or equivalent IT-related qualification
- A valid driver’s license is advantageous, as travel may be required to provide ICT support to various district offices.
Duties
- Provide first-line support for ICT-related issues, including desktop and printer support, as well as LAN connectivity.
- Manage call logs on the Information Technology Service Management System (ITSM).
- Apply technical standards and procedures to support end users.
- Manage network connectivity, servers, security, and performance.
- Troubleshoot ICT issues and liaise with internal and external parties for issue resolution.
- Maintain computer security, antivirus updates, and server room access.
- Keep an inventory of hardware and software licenses.
2. Systems Functional Support/Data Analyst-Scientist (X4 Posts)

Duties
- Provide functional and technical support for departmental systems.
- Offer help-desk services and application support for various departmental systems, including the departmental intranet and website.
- Handle help-desk escalations and provide user training.
- Use data to propose solutions for business issues and decision-making processes.
- Build algorithms and design experiments to merge, manage, and extract data for tailored reports.
- Develop predictive models and machine-learning algorithms for internal stakeholders.
- Test data-mining models for projects and business units.
- Ensure coherent communication of data needs and results to internal and external stakeholders.
Application Guidelines
- Application Form: Candidates must complete a new Z83 form, which can be obtained from any public service department or online at the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA).
- Documentation: Applicants are not required to submit copies of their qualifications initially. However, a fully completed and signed Z83 form, along with a detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV), must be submitted.
- E-Recruitment System: The Z83 form on the e-recruitment system is currently not downloadable and not signable. Therefore, applicants using the e-recruitment system will not be disqualified for an unsigned Z83 form but will be asked to sign on the interview day.
- Shortlisting: Only shortlisted candidates will be required to submit certified copies of qualifications and other relevant documents.
- Foreign Qualifications: Candidates with foreign qualifications must provide a South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) evaluation certificate.
- Correspondence: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted. If no response is received within six months of the closing date, consider the application unsuccessful.
- Personnel Suitability Checks: Successful candidates will undergo various checks, including criminal record verification, citizenship, financial records, qualification verifications, and security clearances.
