Minimum Qualifications
- Education: National Diploma (NQF 6) or equivalent in IT.
- Experience: At least 5 years in IT networking and support.
- Certifications: CompTIA A+, N+, Server+; Microsoft 365 Fundamentals; ITIL certification preferred.
Desired Experience
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in MS Desktop and Mac Operating systems.
- Experience with MS Office and O365.
- Familiarity with mobile devices (Apple and Android).
- Knowledge of remote support tools.
- Experience in Cloud Computing, LAN/WAN, Wireless Networking, Internet connectivity.
- Understanding of Antivirus and Firewall systems.
- Experience with switches and servers.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Support:
- Diagnose and resolve software and hardware issues, including operating systems and MS Office.
- Install and configure computer hardware, operating systems, and applications.
- Troubleshoot system and network problems, providing solutions for hardware and software faults.
- Assist users with setup and resolve issues, either in person or remotely.
- System Management:
- Manage incidents, problems, and requests through a service management system.
- Set up new user accounts and manage password issues.
- Configure and maintain workstations, peripherals, and connectivity solutions (e.g., Fibre, LTE).
- Project Support:
- Support projects led by Research programs/business units.
- Provide technical conference support for office and offsite meetings.
- Test and evaluate new technology and provide staff training on hardware and software.
- Security and Maintenance:
- Enforce ICT security policies and ensure protection measures are in place.
- Install antivirus and antimalware software, apply software updates and patches regularly.
- Provide after-hours standby support for escalated IT issues.
