    Ndwedwe Local Municipality Vacancies

    1. Position: Motor Mechanic (Diesel & Petrol)

    • Department: Technical Department
    • Position: Motor Mechanic (Diesel & Petrol)
    • Nature of Appointment: Permanent
    • Task Grade: 09
    • Salary Notch: R243,084.20
    • Salary Scale: R243,084.20 – R315,520.10 per annum
    • Reference Number: KZ29:3TECH040

    Key Requirements:

    • Qualifications: Registered Artisan’s Certificate/Trade Test in Petrol and Diesel Mechanics.
    • Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in repairing and maintaining earthmoving plant, equipment, and light vehicles (petrol and diesel engines). Experience with auto-electrical and hydraulic systems is advantageous.
    • Licenses: Valid Code C1 driver’s license and Professional Driver’s Permit (PDP).

    Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

    • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in relevant software.
    • Interpersonal Skills: Strong ability to interact effectively with others.
    • Municipal Legislation: Knowledge and understanding of municipal regulations.
    • Communication Skills: Good communication, negotiation, and dispute resolution skills.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintenance Programs: Develop and implement maintenance programs for vehicles, plant, and equipment.
    • Routine Servicing: Conduct routine servicing and maintenance of vehicles, plant, and equipment.
    • Repairs: Perform minor body and trim repairs, diagnose, repair, and replace engine management/fuel injection components.
    • Mechanical Repairs: Repair or replace worn and faulty parts, dismantle and reassemble components, and tune engines using specialized equipment.
    • Safety Inspections: Conduct mechanical safety inspections.
    • Workshop Management: Manage the workshop budget and administer financial processes as required. Handle vehicle/equipment insurance claims and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards.
    • Inventory Management: Monitor and report on stock levels and future needs.

    Additional Responsibilities:

    • Perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by the Supervisor.

    2. Position: Electrical Engineering Technician

    • Department: Technical Department
    • Position: Electrical Engineering Technician
    • Nature of Appointment: Permanent
    • Task Grade: 12
    • Salary Notch: R381,440.76
    • Salary Scale: R381,440.76 – R495,130.42 per annum
    • Reference Number: KZ293TECH032

    Key Requirements:

    • Educational Qualifications: Grade 12 Certificate and a National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
    • Experience: At least 3 years of relevant experience in Local Government or Public/Private sectors.
    • Licenses: Valid Driver’s License (minimum Code B).
    • Registration: Must obtain registration as a Candidate Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) within three months of appointment, in compliance with the Engineering Profession Act 46 of 2000.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:

    • Project Management Skills: Ability to manage and oversee engineering projects effectively.
    • Rural Development: Knowledge of rural development principles.
    • Municipal Legislation: Understanding of municipal regulations and policies.
    • Computer Literacy: Proficiency in relevant software and tools.
    • Communication Skills: Strong skills in communication, negotiation, and dispute resolution.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Support Services: Provide support to the Electrical unit.
    • Project Planning: Assist in assessing and developing business plans for electrical projects.
    • Implementation: Ensure projects are implemented according to the municipality’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP).
    • Bid Documentation: Compile and manage bid documents.
    • Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate project progress and measure quantities.
    • Payments: Prepare payment certificates and process payments.
    • Reporting: Produce monthly progress reports on projects.
    • Site Meetings: Conduct site meetings with stakeholders.
    • Liaison: Communicate with community structures and stakeholders on electrical technical matters.

    3. Position: IPMS & WorxStudy Officer

    • Department: Corporate Services
    • Position: IPMS & WorxStudy Officer
    • Nature of Appointment: Permanent
    • Task Grade: 12
    • Salary Notch: R381,440.76
    • Salary Scale: R381,440.76 – R495,130.42 per annum

    Key Requirements:

    • Educational Qualifications: Matric Certificate and a three-year National Diploma or Degree in Human Resources Management, Performance Management, or Industrial Psychology.
    • Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Human Resources, specifically within Individual Performance Management and Work Study within the Local Government sector.
    • Licenses: Valid Driver’s License (minimum Code B).

    Knowledge, Skills & Competencies:

    • Local Government Legislation: In-depth knowledge of local government regulations.
    • HR Processes and Tools: Proficient understanding of HR practices and tools.
    • Labour Relations: Familiarity with the Labour Relations environment and relevant legislation.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and project management abilities.
    • Multitasking: Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
    • HR Positioning: Proactive in HR practices.
    • Computer Literacy: Proficient in relevant software and tools.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Performance Management System: Coordinate and drive the Individual Performance Management System (IPMS) programme for the municipality.
    • Cascading Performance Management: Assist in implementing performance management strategies for staff below senior management levels.
    • Performance Cycle Management: Oversee the performance cycle to ensure alignment with municipal goals and Key Performance Areas (KPAs).
    • Communication & Capacity Building: Develop and implement communication and training programs to enhance managers’ ability to evaluate and measure performance.
    • Organizational Structure: Update and develop the organizational structure through council resolutions.
    • Secretariat Duties: Serve as the secretariat for the moderation committee.
    • Job Descriptions: Develop, verify, and maintain job descriptions for new employees; facilitate the signing of job descriptions by employees and supervisors.
    • Job Evaluation: Attend job evaluation sessions to discuss and review municipal job descriptions.
