    Pharmacist Internship Hospitals and Health Centres:

    • Groote Schuur Hospital
    • Tygerberg Hospital
    • Red Cross Hospital
    • Worcester Hospital
    • George Hospital
    • Stellenbosch Hospital
    • Eerste River Hospital
    • Karl Bremer Hospital
    • Victoria Hospital
    • Khayelitsha Hospital
    • Kraaifontein Community Health Centre

    Requirements

    Applicants for the Pharmacist Internship must meet the following qualification requirements:

    • Possession of a basic qualification accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
    • This qualification enables registration with the SAPC as a Pharmacist Intern.
    • Candidates must ensure their qualification meets SAPC accreditation standards.
    • Registration with the SAPC is a prerequisite for applying to the Pharmacist Intern position.

    Responsibilities

    As a candidate for the Pharmacist Internship, you will be responsible for several key areas:

    • Pharmaceutical Care: Evaluate prescriptions, dispense medication, and provide information to ensure patient compliance and therapeutic success.
    • Medicine Supply Management: Ensure safe and reliable procurement, storage, control, and distribution of quality pharmaceuticals.
    • Policy Adherence: Follow policies, procedures, and expenditure control.
    • Training and Development: Assist in the training and education of pharmacy staff and other healthcare workers, and promote public health.
    • Quality Management: Demonstrate compliance with Regulated Norms and Standards, Occupational Health & Safety control, and good pharmacy practices.
    • Leadership: Demonstrate initiative in addressing problems.

    Skills and competencies:

    • Proficiency in maintaining accuracy and professionalism while working under pressure.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively interact with colleagues and clients.
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
    • Competence in computer literacy, including proficiency in using relevant software.
    • Familiarity with and capability to adhere to Pharmacy legislation at both national and provincial levels.
    • Understanding of National and Provincial Health Policies, with the ability to apply them appropriately.
