    Job Opportunities at National Prosecution Service (NPA)

    1. Senior State Advocate (Post 30/75)

    Requirements:

    • An LLB degree.
    • At least 8 years of post-qualification legal experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.
    • Demonstrable competency in acting independently, professionally, and with credibility.
    • Right of appearance as contemplated in section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
    • Knowledge and experience in environmental cases and POCA, racketeering cases.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, decision-making ability, and computer literacy.
    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel within the region.

    Duties:

    • Study case dockets and decide on the institution and conduct of criminal proceedings.
    • Draft charge sheets, indictments, and other court documents.
    • Represent the State in all courts and manage court proceedings.
    • Mentor and coach junior staff, providing appropriate guidance and direction.

    2. Senior State Advocate (Specialised Commercial Crime Unit)

    • An LLB degree.
    • At least 8 years post-qualification experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.
    • Extensive prosecutorial or litigation experience with a focus on commercial crimes such as fraud, theft, forgery, and related matters.
    • Right of appearance under section 25(2) of the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Act.
    • Proficiency in prosecuting, guiding investigations, drafting legal documents, and dealing with representations.

    Duties:

    • Conduct prosecution of serious, complex, and organized commercial crime and corruption matters.

    • Manage court and case flow independently.

    • Supervise civil litigation regarding the freezing and forfeiture of assets derived from criminal activity.
