    Details About the City Power Johannesburg Bursary Program

    City Power Johannesburg is offering bursaries for the 2025 academic year, targeting students residing within the City of Johannesburg service area in Gauteng.

    Fields of Study Supported

    The bursary is available for students pursuing undergraduate qualifications in the following fields:

    1. Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current/Light Current)
    2. Environmental Health Management
    3. Information Technology
    4. Risk Management

    What You Should Know

    • Gender Ratio: 70% of the bursaries will be awarded to female students, with 30% allocated to male students.
    • Application Feedback: If you don’t hear back within two months of the closing date, consider your application unsuccessful.
    • Selection Process:
      • Shortlisted candidates will undergo rigorous checks, including academic qualification authentication, criminal record checks, and reference verifications.
      • Psychometric assessments may also be required.
      • The bursary will only be awarded if all checks return positive results.

    Eligibility Requirements

    To qualify for the City Power Johannesburg Bursary, applicants must meet the following criteria:

    1. South African Citizenship: Applicants must hold South African citizenship.
    2. Residency: Reside within the City of Johannesburg service area (Gauteng province).
    3. Matric Results: A minimum “C” symbol (60%) in Matric is required.
    4. Field of Study: Be studying or planning to study towards an undergraduate qualification in one of the supported fields.
    5. Tertiary Institution: Be enrolled or planning to enroll at a recognized South African tertiary institution (University, University of Technology, or TVET College).
    6. Academic Performance: Current students must have an overall average of 60% or higher.
    7. Preference: Priority will be given to students studying at institutions in Gauteng, but applications from students studying in other regions will also be considered.
