Clinical Nurse Practitioner Position Details

Minimum Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
- Grade 1:
- Education: Senior Certificate (Grade 12), Diploma/Degree in General Nursing and Midwifery, and a 1-year post-basic qualification in Clinical Nursing Science, Health Assessment, Treatment, and Care accredited with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Experience: A minimum of 4 years of appropriate/recognizable experience in nursing after registration as a Professional Nurse.
- Grade 2:
- Education: Same as Grade 1.
- Experience: A minimum of 14 years of nursing experience after registration as a Professional Nurse, with at least 10 years of this experience gained after obtaining the 1-year post-basic qualification.
Professional Requirements
- Current proof of registration with the SANC as a General Nurse, Midwife, and Primary Health Care Nurse.
- Valid SANC receipt.
- Proof of work experience, certified by your HR Department.
Knowledge and Skills
- Understanding of nursing care processes, nursing statutes, and legal frameworks (e.g., Nursing Act, Mental Health Act, Labour Relations Act).
- Expertise in TB, Maternal Health, IMCI, and HIV programs.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of financial and budgetary practices.
- Computer skills in programs such as SYNCH and Tier.Net.
Key Responsibilities
As a Clinical Nurse Practitioner, your primary responsibilities will include:
- Supervising and managing nursing units.
- Delivering comprehensive community healthcare, including preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services.
- Ensuring accurate and efficient data management for planning and evaluation.
- Training and motivating staff to improve healthcare delivery.
- Promoting quality scientific nursing care while coordinating services between the hospital and community.
- Maintaining and safeguarding medical equipment.
