The National Tourism Career Expo (NTCE) is one of the biggest tourism exhibitions in South Africa. It is widely known as the sensational trademark that involves South Africa’s tourism role players such as the Culture, Arts, Tourism, Hospitality and Sport Sector Education and Training Authority (CATHSSETA) and the Gauteng Department of Economic Development which is represented by the Gauteng Tourism Authority (GTA).
In celebration of the end of Tourism month, the national Department of Tourism saw it fit to host the three-day NTCE event at the Johannesburg Expo centre in Nasrec from 30 September to 02 October, themed – Rethink Tourism: Career Opportunities Await.
The event targeted grade 9 – 12 learners, TVET and University students, and unemployed graduates, allowing tourism curricula specialists and stakeholders to share information with educators and learners about the various jobs available in the sector.
Elite Career Solutions part of the NTCE 2022
Elite Career Solutions – SA Gov Jobs Director, Bokang Mabiletsa was recognised as one of the industry leaders and had the opportunity to inspire and uplift young people on the careers available within the Tourism sector.
SA Gov Jobs was tasked to offer recruitment related advice to the learners, TVET and University students. We had a great time interacting with the various candidates preparing them for the most crucial step in their life which is finding a job.
We conducted a digital job application management training and support masterclass in which we educated the youth on how to apply for employment online via our job portal, which is a single platform that aggregates all positions from various South African government departments and also on other job platforms such as Indeed and LinkedIn. Most significantly, we demonstrated the significance of career branding and how they can use the CV Builder system to create their professional CV.
To close off our recruitment training, we offered interview tips and advice, and further facilitated a question-and-answer session.
