Job Purpose
The primary goal of this position is to provide registry services within the Western Cape Department of Social Development. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining an efficient record management system, ensuring that all documents are handled correctly and stored safely.

Minimum Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must have:
- A Grade 12 certificate (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification).

Key Responsibilities
As a Registry Clerk, you will be responsible for:
- Providing Registry Counter Services
- Assisting clients with inquiries.
- Handling telephonic and other registry-related inquiries.
- Receiving and registering hand-delivered mail and files.
- Handling Incoming and Outgoing Correspondence
- Receiving, sorting, registering, and dispatching mail.
- Distributing notices regarding registry services.
- Managing Filing and Record Keeping
- Opening and closing files according to the record classification system.
- Filing, storing, tracing, and retrieving documents both manually and electronically.
- Completing index cards for all files.
- Operating Office Machines
- Managing office equipment related to registry functions.
- Maintaining a franking machine register for processing mail.
- Document Processing for Archiving and Disposal
- Scanning documents electronically.
- Sorting and packaging files for archiving and distribution.
Skills & Competencies Required
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A solid understanding of registry duties and administrative practices.
- Knowledge of the legislative framework governing the Public Service.
- Familiarity with document storage and retrieval procedures.
- Proven computer literacy (proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic document management systems).
