Key Responsibilities
As a Sous Chef at UJ, your responsibilities will include:
- Food Ordering and Stock Control
- Ensuring the correct quantity and quality of food is ordered.
- Managing inventory and stock control to meet targets.
- Production and Hygiene Compliance
- Overseeing daily food production to meet set requirements.
- Ensuring adherence to HACCP hygiene and safety standards.
- Kitchen and Equipment Management
- Managing the correct usage and maintenance of kitchen equipment.

Minimum Requirements
To qualify for this Sous Chef position, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Education
- Diploma (NQF 6) in Professional Cookery or Culinary Arts.
- Experience
- At least three years of professional cookery experience in a Sous Chef role.
- Experience in a five-star or fine dining hotel or restaurant is preferred.
- Previous teaching experience in a hospitality or academic setting.
- Skills and Knowledge
- Proficiency in Windows and MS Office.
- Strong industry knowledge and wine knowledge.
- Understanding of kitchen management and operations.
