Student Services Administrator Job Description
This position focuses on supporting Rhodes University’s computer laboratories used for academic purposes. With over 15 labs and 600 computers, this role ensures minimal downtime, maintaining functionality for teaching, research, student use, and conferences.
Key Responsibilities
As an Student Services Administrator, you’ll be responsible for:
- Lab Support:
- Ensuring 15+ computer laboratories with 600 computers are fully functional.
- Managing maintenance to meet academic, research, and student use needs.
- User Support:
- Assisting with academic teaching requirements, conferences, and general student IT needs.
- Scheduling and Bookings:
- Coordinating bookings for lecture timetables and examinations.
- Problem Diagnosis:
- Efficiently identifying and resolving hardware and software issues.
- Record Keeping:
- Accurately maintaining records of assets and equipment.
Requirements
To qualify for this role, you must have:
- Educational Background: Grade 12 qualification.
- Experience:
- At least 2 years’ administrative experience in an electronic environment.
- Proven ability to diagnose hardware and software issues.
- Knowledge of operating systems, networking, and office software.
- Practical experience working in a cloud environment.
- At least 1 year of experience with accurate record-keeping of assets or equipment.
- Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and technical skills.
- Organizational abilities to manage schedules and bookings.
- Communication skills to interact with students and staff.
