Department of Public Works and Infrastructure Vacancies
1. Professional Town and Regional Planner: Grade A (REF NO: 2024/95)
- Directorate: Metropolitan Planning
- Location: Head Office, Pretoria
- Salary: R721,476 per annum (all-inclusive OSD salary package)

Job Requirements:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Urban/Town and Regional Planning or a relevant qualification.
- A minimum of three years of post-qualification experience in Town and Regional Planning.
- Compulsory registration with SACPLAN as a Professional Town and Regional Planner upon appointment.
- Extensive knowledge of Town Planning legal aspects, land development applications (Rezoning, Subdivision, Township Establishment, etc.), and solutions for integrated precinct planning and development.
- Project and Programme Management experience.
- Knowledge of property development and the Site Clearance process.
- Strong communication, negotiation, and report-writing skills.
- Computer literacy, with proficiency in GIS and Computer-Aided Design software.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
Key Duties:
- Manage spatial development for state accommodation solutions within the spatial development frameworks of metropolitan municipalities to ensure alignment.
- Interpret and verify client departments’ needs, preferences, and space norms.
- Facilitate community involvement and stakeholder support in projects.
- Manage site analysis, audits, approvals, and site clearance for development.
- Provide timely progress reports and briefings to client departments.
- Administer and ensure compliance with DPW and other related government guidelines in the appointment of professional service providers.
- Apply project quality control measures and proactively address constraints that may delay the site clearance process.
- Negotiate land availability and enter into service level agreements with service providers and various stakeholders.
- Provide technical support to implementation teams at Head and Regional offices.
- Develop and inform stakeholders of site clearance processes, ensuring project compliance with legal and development conditions.
- Resolve issues related to environmental and heritage impact, land use, site demarcation, and site development plans.

All applicants are requested to use the new Z83 application form (obtainable from any Public Service Department). The Z83 form must be fully completed, signed, and initialled. Incomplete applications may result in disqualification.
- Method of Application: Applicants are not required to submit certified copies of qualifications and other relevant documents at the initial stage. Only the Z83 form and a detailed Curriculum Vitae should be submitted.
