Job Description and Responsibilities
As a Legal Administration Officer, the successful candidate will:
- Provide Legal Support: Offer professional legal advice and support to the Department and Ministry.
- Draft and Review Legislation: Assist in drafting public administration legislation and ensure adherence to constitutional and legal frameworks.
- Legislative Guidance: Participate in legislative processes and provide guidance for policy amendments.
- Litigation Support: Support litigation management, ensuring adherence to best practices and legal compliance.
- Conduct Research: Carry out detailed legal research and provide expert legal opinions.
- Ensure Compliance: Oversee the Department’s legal adherence to laws like the Public Finance Management Act and the Constitution.
Requirements
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Education:
- A recognized Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Bachelor of Procurationis (B Proc) at NQF Level 7.
- Experience:
- Between 2 to 7 years of post-qualification legal experience.
- Skills:
- In-depth knowledge of the South African legal system, public service legislation, and policy frameworks.
- Expertise in the law of contracts, legal compliance, litigation management, and legislative drafting.
- Strong interpersonal, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Familiarity with the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, Promotion of Access to Information Act, Promotion of Administrative Justice Act, and other relevant legislation.
- Additional Requirements:
- Computer literacy.
- Willingness to travel.
- For non-South African citizens, proof of permanent residency.
