Key Responsibilities
As a Medical Registrar within the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department, you will be responsible for a wide range of duties aimed at both patient care and education:
- Clinical Responsibilities: The successful candidate will rotate across the hospitals that form part of the Pretoria Academic Complex, which includes Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital, Tembisa Hospital, and Witbank Hospital. The role involves managing medical cases related to obstetrics and gynaecology, including after-hour services which are compulsory.
- Teaching & Training: An essential part of the role involves teaching and training undergraduate medical students within the department. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the next generation of doctors, providing guidance, mentorship, and hands-on training to students.
- Research: Participation in departmental research initiatives is required. This role provides the opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research in the field of obstetrics and gynaecology, contributing to the advancement of medical knowledge.
- Outreach Programs: The position also involves taking part in outreach programs designed to serve underprivileged communities and extend quality healthcare to those in need.
Requirements
- Qualification: You must hold an MBChB or an equivalent medical degree.
- Registration: You must be registered with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an independent medical practitioner.
- Skills & Experience: Clinical experience in obstetrics and gynaecology, along with a passion for teaching and research, is highly desirable.
