Minimum Requirements
To be considered for any of these Professional Nurse positions, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Senior Certificate / Grade 12 or equivalent qualification.
- Diploma/Degree in General Nursing and Midwifery (or an equivalent qualification).
- The qualification must be accredited with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as per Government Notice R425.
- Grade 1: 1-10 years of appropriate/recognizable nursing experience in theatre after registration as a Professional Nurse with the SANC.
- Skills and Competencies Required:
- Ability to work independently and prioritize workload.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal).
Duties and Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be required to:
- Understand and implement nursing legislation and ethical nursing practices.
- Perform clinical nursing duties as per the prescribed scope of practice and standards.
- Promote quality nursing care in line with the National Core Standards and Ideal Hospital Realization Framework.
- Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, supervisors, and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Maintain accurate patient records and write reports when needed.
- Provide comprehensive patient care, ensuring adherence to the Batho Pele principles.
- Efficiently manage resources allocated to the unit.
- Work harmoniously with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and beliefs.
