Key Responsibilities
As the Project Manager for the Faculty of Engineering, you will play a vital role in the successful execution of various projects. Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Project Planning and Scheduling: Define project scope, set clear objectives, and develop detailed project plans that include timelines and milestones. You’ll manage resources effectively and assign tasks to ensure successful project delivery.
- Budget Management: Estimate project costs, prepare the budget, and monitor expenditures to ensure the project stays within the approved budget.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with key stakeholders, communicate regularly, and manage expectations to ensure the smooth progress of the project.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and issues, develop mitigation strategies, and monitor risks throughout the project’s lifecycle to minimize impact.
- Project Execution and Delivery: Oversee the project’s execution according to plan, ensuring timely delivery of all milestones and final outcomes.
- Communication Management: Establish effective communication channels, provide regular updates, and facilitate meetings to ensure clear information sharing among all stakeholders.
Minimum Requirements
- A B.Eng (NQF Level 8) in Mechanical Engineering.
- A minimum of two years of project management experience.
- At least two years of general engineering work experience.
Added Advantages:
- Registration with the South African Institution of Mechanical Engineering (SAIMechE).
- PhD Eng (NQF Level 10) in Mechanical/Nuclear Engineering.
- M.Eng (NQF Level 9) in Mechanical/Nuclear Engineering.
Functional/Technical Competencies:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Capacity to work under pressure and handle challenging situations.
- Strong academic research skills, both independently and in groups.
Behavioral Competencies:

Remuneration:
The annual total remuneration package will be in line with the NWU policy guidelines and commensurate with the level of appointment.
