R350 SRD Grant Extended
Great news for all SRD beneficiaries and new applicants, the SASSA R350 grant has been extended for yet another year and will continue till March 2024. This was announced on the 26th of October 2022 by the Minister of Finance, Enoch Godongwana during his presentation of the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement in Parliament.
The SRD grant was introduced in May 2020 as a temporary measure to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable, who were affected by [Covid-19 induced] lockdown measures. It has been extended several times since then. Discussions on the future of the grant are ongoing and involve very difficult trade-offs and financing decisions, he said.
The grant will be continued while the government tries to find other means to replace the grant.
