September is here, which means new R350 grant payment dates. If you are an R350 grant beneficiary you are obviously wondering when your payment for the new month will be issued, well, keep reading to find out.
The South African Social Security Agency hasn’t stated when exactly the R350 grant payments will be issued in September 2022 as they are currently experiencing slight delays and challenges with assessments for July 2022.
This is mainly because the previous regulation required people to reconfirm their grant every three months and so far, there have been a few people that re-confirmed their grant.
“We are still having challenges with some payments wherein some applicants have not provided us with their banking details. We encourage all applicants to provide us with their correct bank details so that we can timeously facilitate their grant payments”, said Social Development Minister, Lindiwe Zulu.
As people update and re-confirm their details, SASSA promise to have the July assessments concluded soon.
Beneficiaries are to remain calm and be expectant as the payments for the months they have been approved for will be released.
SASSA R350 Grant Bank Account Information Update
To avoid more delayed payments, SASSA urges all applicants to check and confirm that they provided the correct banking details when applying for the grant.
Old applicants may also update their banking details on the SRD website: srd.sassa.gov.za and follow the following steps:
- When on the SRD website, scroll down to the “How to change my banking details” section.
- Add your ID number and click on submit.
- An SMS with a secured link to update your details will be sent to the number you used when applying.
- Click on the link and follow all the instructions.
Remember to use your own bank account details as SASSA will not be making payments to another person’s bank account.
This also applies to the money transfer and collection in-store payment options, you will have to make sure that the cell phone number used is registered in your name.
Payments will then be made to the new banking details for future payments, and this will be after the verification process has been concluded.
More People to be Approved for the R350 Grant
As the newly amended regulation comes to play, more people who applied for the R350 grant will be approved. This comes after the qualifying criteria have been amended.
The new regulation includes an increase in the income threshold for the means test which moves from R350 to R624.
This means that applicants who have an inflow of funds in their bank accounts of less than R624 (for that particular month) do qualify to receive the grant with effect from August 2022.
You may check the status of your application online or via WhatsApp. You can learn more on how to check your R350 grant status here: SASSA R350 Status Check

SASSA Warns the Public of Scams
SASSA warns the public about the fake social media account that has been created and used as if it is an official SASSA account. The account is using the agency’s logo and circulating unconfirmed information. Some of the fake information includes that the R350 grant will be increased to R550. This is not from SASSA so users should report that page.
SASSA has also received a high number of calls from distraught beneficiaries who were lured into giving someone who claimed to be a SASSA official their COVID-19 SRD Grant R350 login details.
The individual is said to have changed the cellphone numbers and banking details of unsuspecting clients to his details.
Beneficiaries are urged to be vigilant and not share their personal details with anyone. SASSA will never ask a client for login details, especially on social media.
