    Available Job Opportunities in the Western Cape Department of Health and Wellness

    1. Manager: Pharmaceutical Services

    Location: Western/Southern Sub-structure Office
    Salary: R1,253,415 per annum
    Key Requirements:

    • A basic qualification accredited by the South African Pharmacy Council (SAPC).
    • Minimum of three years’ experience as a registered pharmacist.
    • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel in the Metro.
    • Skills in leadership, project management, and pharmaceutical systems in the public sector.

    Duties:

    • Lead pharmacy services within the Southern/Western Sub-structure.
    • Ensure quality assurance and governance in clinical services.
    • Implement strategic policies aligned with national healthcare standards.

    2. Director: Health Intelligence

    Location: Head Office, Cape Town
    Salary: R1,216,824 per annum
    Key Requirements:

    • A relevant NQF Level 7 qualification in a health-related field with at least five years in a senior managerial role.
    • Proficiency in data management, epidemiology, and strategic systems planning.
    • A valid driver’s license and proven experience in project management.

    Duties:

    • Develop an integrated data hub for informed decision-making.
    • Implement epidemiological strategies and disease surveillance systems.
    • Support departmental strategic planning and compliance with health regulations.

    3. Medical Officer Grade 1–3: Neonatology

    Location: Groote Schuur Hospital, Observatory
    Salary Range: R949,146 – R1,253,415 per annum
    Key Requirements:

    • Qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA).
    • Experience levels vary by grade (minimum of one year for Grade 1).
    • Commitment to commuted overtime.

    Duties:

    • Provide comprehensive medical care to neonates.
    • Participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary team collaborations.
    • Supervise medical students and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

    4. Registrar (Medical): Radiology

    Location: Tygerberg Hospital, Parow Valley
    Salary: R949,146 per annum
    Contract Duration: 5 years
    Key Requirements:

    • Registration with HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
    • Willingness to work across various training hospitals and participate in after-hours duties.

    Duties:

    • Deliver high-quality diagnostic services and radiological reports.
    • Participate in registrar training programs and research initiatives.
    • Teach medical students, interns, and radiographers.

    5. Registrar (Medical): Paediatrics

    Location: Tygerberg Hospital, Parow Valley
    Salary: R949,146 per annum
    Contract Duration: 4 years
    Key Requirements:

    • Appropriate medical qualification with HPCSA registration.
    • Diploma in Child Health and experience in general paediatrics or neonatology.

    Duties:

    • Provide inpatient and outpatient care in paediatrics and neonatology.
    • Participate in teaching, administration, and clinical research.
    • Function across the distributed training platform as required.
