    The South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) has announced a vacancy for the position of Supply Chain Officer. This role is critical in ensuring the efficient and effective management of the SACSSP’s supply chain processes. The position is based in Pretoria, offering a competitive annual salary of R 302,910.12 excluding benefits.

    Supply Chain Officer Job Overview

    The primary goal of the Supply Chain Officer is to execute professional and compliant procurement processes. This includes ensuring that procurement activities are timely, provide value for money, and satisfy all stakeholders. The officer will also play a leading role in the SACSSP’s supply chain management processes, maintain the supplier database, examine existing procedures, and streamline activities to efficiently respond to user needs.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Administration: Under the guidance of the Finance and Administration Manager, administer the SACSSP’s supply chain processes effectively and efficiently.
    • Process Development: Develop and review supply chain processes and procedures to ensure they are up-to-date and compliant.
    • Procurement Planning: Coordinate and consolidate the organisational annual procurement plan.
    • Tender Management: Administer processes related to tenders and calls for proposals, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies.
    • Risk Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to the SACSSP’s supply chain management.
    • Documentation and Records: Generate and maintain all procurement documentation, purchase orders, and supplier records.
    • Payments: Prepare payment requests and collect necessary documents to facilitate timely payments.
    • Contract Management: Oversee the management of contracts and ensure all contractual obligations are met.
    • Support: Provide administrative and technical support to internal and external stakeholders.
    • Asset Management: Maintain an up-to-date asset register.
    • Audit Support: Assist with the annual external audit.
    • Meetings: Attend various meetings as required, representing the supply chain function.

    Competencies and Skills

    • Legislation and Policy Knowledge: Understanding of procurement-related legislation and policies, including the Public Finance Management Act, Preferential Procurement Policy Framework Act, and Treasury Regulations.
    • Social Service Professions Act: Basic knowledge of the Social Service Professions Act and related regulations.
    • Time Management: Ability to manage time effectively and adhere to deadlines.
    • Organisational Skills: Strong planning, coordination, and organisational abilities.
    • Analytical Skills: Ability to solve problems analytically and write detailed reports.
    • Negotiation and Communication: Strong negotiation skills and excellent communication abilities.
    • Customer Focus: A customer-oriented approach, focusing on the needs of registrants and stakeholders.
    • Integrity and Confidentiality: High level of honesty, integrity, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

    Requirements

    • Degree: A National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or an equivalent qualification (NQF Level 6).
    • Professional Experience: At least three years of experience in the supply chain and management environment.
    • Computer Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in MS Office.
    • SAGE Evolution: Knowledge of SAGE Evolution will be an advantage.
