ICT Technician Job Description
As an ICT Technician at QCTO, you will play a crucial role in providing technical advice and support for ICT equipment. This position requires a hands-on approach to managing both software and hardware, ensuring the smooth operation of all ICT systems and equipment within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Policy Development: Assist with the development of policies, procedures, and frameworks related to ICT applications to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Software and Hardware Management: Install new software and hardware, perform upgrades, and ensure secure and safe setups.
- Equipment Setup: Set up laptops, desktops, data projectors, and other ICT equipment, ensuring they are ready for use and functioning correctly.
- Service Requests: Respond to service requests promptly and maintain an accurate log of all service tasks.
- ICT Solutions Implementation: Support the implementation of ICT solutions as required, contributing to innovative projects that enhance the organization’s technological capabilities.
- Inventory Maintenance: Keep an up-to-date inventory of all ICT hardware and software licenses, ensuring compliance with licensing agreements.
- User Support and Training: Provide comprehensive support and training to users to enhance their understanding and use of ICT resources.
- After-Hours Support: Be available for after-hours support as needed to ensure the continuous operation of ICT services.
Requirements
- A recognized three-year National Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology or a related field (minimum NQF level 6), registered with the occupational qualifications sub-framework (SAQA).
- Experience in supporting application systems and troubleshooting.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Public Service, QCTO mandates and strategies, relevant government legislation, QCTO business strategies and goals, QCTO services, QCTO business processes and value chain, and Microsoft and other operating systems and software is an advantage.
- Advanced Microsoft Word and Excel skills, or the willingness to undergo training to develop these skills.
